Comments BD&P places great value on giving back to the community that has shaped the firm we are today. Our longstanding commitment to local not-for-profits and the arts is evident through numerous sponsorships and charitable initiatives, including the annual Put the Boots to Hunger campaign which has raised almost $4.7 million for the Calgary Food Bank since it’s inception in 2008; sponsorship of the BD&P Vertigo Mystery and World Stage; commitment to the RESOLVE Foundation in partnership with the Calgary Homeless Foundation; and the long-time support of the Wings of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation, to name only a few. BD&P was awarded the Art Smith Giving Circle Award by the Calgary Homeless Foundation for long-term commitment to the goal of ending homelessness.

Generosity of spirit permeates throughout BD&P, resulting in the dedication of time and energy spent volunteering and fundraising for charitable organizations in and around Calgary. Our lawyers and staff often fund meals and volunteer at the Drop-in Centre throughout the year, and the firm's 2022 United Way campaign raised over $306,000 to help drive social change in Calgary and the surrounding area.

The firm is a strong supporter of providing pro bono legal services, and many of our lawyers sit on the boards and committees of a number of organizations, including SOS Children’s Villages Canada, Calgary Legal Guidance, Alberta Ballet and Simon House Recovery Centre. In 2018, BD&P and MNP collaborated with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League and Federated Co-operatives to establish the SJHL Assistance Program to assist players, families, billets and others directly or indirectly affected by the Humboldt Broncos’ accident and/or other similar tragedies. BD&P regularly provides pro bono legal advice to a variety of charities and not-for-profit organizations, including, among others, Ronald McDonald House, Calgary Habitat for Humanity Society, PaceKids, Grow Calgary and the Missing Children Society of Canada.
