Comments BLG has a Mentoring Program and Professional Development Program that is second to none. Associates choose their own mentors and are encouraged to change mentors every 2 years to ensure continuing development and training. Leading BLG's national professional development programs is Sindy Peixoto, National Director of Talent Development. The Professional Development Program commences in an associate's first year and continues through to and during partnership, with specific programs to supplement training at each stage of your career. Our approach to continued learning and managing your professional development is multi-faceted. The comprehensive BLG Professional Excellence Program encompasses mentoring, knowledge management, evaluations, training in substantive law, skills training, and practice and client relationship management. BLG 101, the firm's introductory program for new associates and lateral hire professionals, is designed to help them hit the ground running. In addition to offering components of knowledge, practice and relationship management, BLG 101 facilitates opportunities to help our more junior professionals get to know peers and professional colleagues at the firm. Courses include professional expectations and responsibilities, organizing your practice, business aspects of the practice of law, drafting pleadings, preparing for and conducting a trial, ethical advocacy, solicitors' problem situations, purchase and sale of a business, and financial statements. In BLG 301, all associates in third year participate in a comprehensive 2 1/2 day national program enhancing practice skills. Associates meet with peers from across the country and are divided into two practice streams: litigation and transactions. Program content and teaching methods feature interactive training based on fact scenarios, role-playing and hands-on practice opportunities designed to enhance practice skills. In BLG 501, senior associates from across the country convene at this 2 1/2 day intensive program, which supports the transition to partnership. Sessions are developed and tailored to ensure BLG's senior associates are best equipped with the diverse professional skills and perspective required to deliver discerning professional excellence and exceptional service as partners. In BLG 701, new partners focus on business development and practice management training. In addition, BLG's National CLE Program is a rolling three-year curriculum divided into three annual segments and available in each BLG office for all professionals. The program is designed to keep professionals abreast of recent changes in the law and to enhance skills.
