Description of the second year summer program Our future articling students have the opportunity to work one or two summers before their stage, as they wish. Our aim is to provide insight into the practice of law, challenging work and an educational experience. BLG Montreal’s two weeks-long orientation includes training in office policies and procedures, practice management, the anatomy of a business transaction, and an overview of a civil action. Orientation week also includes social activities designed to get you to know the lawyers and staff you will be working with, a lunch with principals, informal outings with current articling students and junior associates, and a team building day hosted by our BLG associates. Summer students are also invited to enjoy the many social and sporting activities taking place during the summer. Our commitment to professional excellence includes weekly lunch seminars geared specifically to summer students. Seminars include introductions to a variety of our practice areas, ethics, and researching legislation. In addition to the weekly seminars, summer students enjoy a day-long Negotiation Workshop which provides skills development and promotes team building.

Description of articling program At BLG Montreal, we offer a rotational OR non-rotational program for Articling Students tailored to their interests and previous experience as a BLG student. With the help of the Recruiting Manager, the Articling Students decide in which groups they want to complete their articling. They can be exposed to a broad range of work and opportunities or focus on the one group they already know they want to evolve in.

We offer a comprehensive Orientation designed to teach you about the practice of law and the type of law practiced at BLG.

The result is a broad hands-on experience that promotes interaction between lawyers, students and clients allowing you to quickly become an integral part of the Firm. Articling Students are also invited to enjoy the many social activities that take place throughout the year.

Our commitment to professional excellence includes a number of seminars throughout the year, all geared specifically to articling students on topics such as Preparing for and Arguing a Motion, File and Practice Management, and Communicating with Clients and Business Etiquette. If you would like more information about our articling program, please visit our website. If you would like to contact any of our current articling students to discuss their experience, please visit our website.
