At Bereskin & Parr, our core values are excellence, respect, fairness and teamwork. Promoting and embracing a diverse and inclusive working environment is central to living our values. We are proud of our diverse culture, and support inclusion of everyone regardless of race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation and physical or mental health. We believe that valuing and enhancing diversity and inclusion will help us attract and retain the best talent, better serve our clients’ needs in an evolving global marketplace, and to be a better corporate citizen.

Bereskin & Parr has a Diversity & Inclusion Committee composed of senior management, partners and associates that is very active in the firm and broader legal community. Our D&I Committee’s mandate is to reinforce and preserve the firm’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as our core values. Our D&I Committee plans and implements external speaker sessions on unconscious bias, discrimination issues and other topics; arranges social events geared towards education on equity, diversity and inclusion; and promotes internal and external communications on important dates, events and anniversaries.

Our Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Policy codifies our practices relating to the advancement of diversity and inclusion in our firm. It outlines our commitment to, and strategy for, establishing and maintaining a diverse, inclusive and equitable workplace, particularly for those who are under-represented, including individuals who are identified under human rights legislation, such as, Indigenous peoples, people with disabilities, individuals from racialized groups, people of diverse faiths and creeds, people with diverse gender identities or expressions, people with diverse sexual orientations, and women.

Fundamental to our Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Policy is a core value of our firm: treating all members of the firm – staff, management, agents and lawyers – with fairness and respect.
