Description of first year summer program:	Our summer program is designed to provide first and second year law students with a solid introduction to the practice of law and the culture of Bennett Jones LLP. Summer students get real file work, meet clients, get involved in deals and go to court - they do not spend their whole summer in the library writing memos. Summer students are welcomed to the firm with a weeklong in-depth orientation program and are paired with associate mentors. As a group, the students engage in many social and team building activities. We also have a strong continuing legal education program that is designed to build both technical and practice management skills.

Description of articling program	Our twelve month articling program is split into three rotations: 1) Advocacy 2) Business Law 3) Student's Choice. During the advocacy rotation, our students are involved in general litigation matters, tax litigation, medical malpractice litigation, administrative/tribunal work, regulatory and environmental work, bankruptcy and insolvency and labour and employment work. In the business law rotation, our students gain experience in mergers and acquisitions, securities, private equity, banking law and structured finance, real estate, energy and construction, emissions trading, competition law, technology and intellectual property. Our student coordinators work closely with each of the students to ensure that they receive individualized attention and career planning assistance/guidance.
