Welcome to Cassels! The people at Cassels are what make us an exceptional law firm. From the day they join the Cassels team, our students are an integral part of our future success; we view our students as the future partners of our firm. To make this vision a reality, we have designed a comprehensive student program built around the following three tenets: 1. Fostering an inclusive environment: We hire smart, diverse, accomplished individuals and we want each of them to bring their unique attributes to our firm. We listen to their ideas, incorporate their feedback, and foster an environment where they can thrive. We don’t hire students hoping to mold them in our image – we hire them because they already have the potential to be excellent lawyers. Our entrepreneurial culture gives them a platform to accomplish their professional goals. 2. Providing meaningful work opportunities: We practice in a lot of different areas and we encourage our students to seek out and accept work opportunities in as many of those areas as they want. Our students are given meaningful work and real responsibility from day one: they regularly work directly with our senior lawyers and deal directly with our clients. We encourage our students to take on work that is outside their comfort zone and that challenges them, and we provide the support they need to be successful. We also facilitate a regular and meaningful feedback process that sets our students up for long-term success. 3. Investing in professional growth: Each student has multiple mentors throughout his or her summer and/or articling term to ensure that he or she is exposed to different practice groups, styles, and experiences while simultaneously building a network across the firm. We view each cohort of students as serving an integral support system for one another. To facilitate an environment of teamwork and comradery, we offer several social and team-building events throughout our student program. We also have a robust professional development curriculum designed to provide our students with the skills they need to build a successful legal career. As you review this site, I hope that you see yourself becoming the next valued member of the Cassels team! ~ Kim Bonnar, Director of Professional Resources You can read more about our student programs at https://cassels.com/join-us/student-opportunities-our-student-programs/
